Your AI Persona defines how AI communicates throughout your LightSpeed VT system. It shapes the voice, style, personality, and behavioral priorities used across content generation and learner facing AI tools.
Configure it once to keep AI generated content aligned with your brand, audience, and training goals.
Why it matters: LightSpeed VT's AI tools use your AI Persona to create a more consistent experience across your system. From writing course descriptions to answering Learner questions, your AI stays aligned with the voice and guidance you define.
What Gets Configured
Your AI Persona always includes a Persona — who the AI is. It defines the AI's style, personality, and voice, and determines whether your AI feels warm or formal, motivating or direct, conversational or instructional.
A well defined Persona helps AI generated content feel consistent with your brand and appropriate for your learners.
Depending on which setup option you choose, you can also add guidance for what the AI does — the priorities, guardrails, and things to emphasize or avoid:

Once configured, your AI Persona automatically supports LightSpeed VT AI tools such as:

- AI Tutor for Learner facing questions and study assistance
- AI Image Gen for Course thumbnails and visual assets
- AI Course Outline for creating structured Course outlines from source materials

How to Configure Your AI Persona
Navigate to System Management → AI Settings (top navigation bar), then select the AI Persona section.
You have three ways to configure your AI Persona.
Option 1: Use the Default
No setup is required.
If you do not customize your AI Persona, your system uses LightSpeed VT's built in general purpose Persona. No additional guidelines or instructions are shown or applied with this option. The default is designed to work across a wide range of industries and training programs.
Best for: Teams that want to start using AI tools immediately without additional configuration.
Option 2: Auto Generate Your AI Persona
Recommended for most teams.
Under AI Persona, select Auto Generate to launch a short guided questionnaire (10 questions) about your brand, audience, communication style, and training goals.
Based on your answers, LightSpeed VT creates a customized Persona along with Additional Guidelines for you. No prompt writing or AI expertise is required.
To auto generate your setup:
- Go to System Management > AI Settings.
- Select AI Persona.
- Select Auto Generate under AI Persona and Complete Setup.
- Answer the 10 questions about your brand, audience, voice, and training goals.
- Save your changes.
Your new Persona and Additional Guidelines are then available to supported AI tools throughout your system.
Option 3: Create Your Own
For complete control, enter your own Persona information in the Persona field, then add Custom Instructions for any additional guidance you want the AI to follow.
This option lets you define the exact voice, personality, priorities, and guidelines your AI follows.
Best for: Teams with established brand standards, AI guidelines, or specific instructional requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I update my AI Persona after the initial setup?
Yes. Return to System Management → AI Settings → AI Persona at any time to update your Persona, Additional Guidelines, or Custom Instructions.
Does changing my AI Persona affect existing content?
No. Updated settings apply when generating new AI content. Content that was previously generated remains unchanged.
What if I complete the questionnaire but want to make manual edits afterward?
After the questionnaire generates your Persona and Additional Guidelines, you can edit either field directly before saving — or return later via the Create Your Own option.
Do all AI features use my AI Persona?
Most content generation and Learner facing AI tools use your AI Persona.
AI SnapScribe (caption and summary generation) operates independently from these settings and can be toggled on/off separately under AI Settings → Preferences.
