Cell Phone Number Validation for Enhanced Security and Compliance

We are happy to announce an update to enhance security and ensure compliance for systems where Users have entered a Cell Phone number.

If your System has the "Require Cell Phone" option enabled, OR if a Cell Phone number has been entered for a User under the "Message Delivery Options" area, Users created after 09/04/2024 will be required to validate their Cell Phone via SMS text once they sign in.

To reiterate, this will only happen when that user “SIGNS IN.” The One Time Passcode will NOT be sent when: a Manager ‘Creates’ a user, uploads users in a file, the API is used to create users, etc. This ONLY happens when the actual user signs in.

What's Changing:
To enhance security and ensure compliance, we are introducing a new validation step for cell phone numbers. When users enter their cell phone number, they will receive a one-time passcode (OTP) sent to that number. Users will need to enter this OTP to proceed.

Why It Matters:
This process confirms the validity of the cell phone number and verifies that users have opted in to receive text messages.

Implementation Timeline:

  • Phase 1 (Starting 09/04/2024): If "Require Cell Phone" is enabled, OR when the User is created a Cell Phone is entered for SMS Text / Message Delivery, then the next time they sign in they will be prompted to complete the validation process.

  • Phase 2 (Starting 9/15/2024): Existing users with cell phone numbers on their profiles will be prompted to complete the OTP validation process. We will provide further announcements to keep you informed.
