Adding captions to your videos is a convenient way to enhance accessibility and engage your audience effectively. Creating these captions is also easy with the help of a third-party services like Rev. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
1. Create or Log In to Your Rev Account
If you don't already have a Rev account, visit www.rev.com and sign up. If you have an account, simply log in and select the 'Place a new order' button.
2. Place a New Order
You can choose between English or Foreign Language captions.
- English Captions offer options like Human Captions or AI Captions, each with different pricing.
- If you need captions in a foreign language, select "Global Subtitles." This option includes both translated captions and free English captions.
Upload Your Video Content
You'll be directed to a screen where you can upload your video files. Please upload all the necessary clips, but you can skip Course Preview trailers if they're not needed.
Select Language and Output Format
Once all your video files are uploaded, you can specify the language and output file format. Ensure you choose the correct dialect for the chosen language, if applicable.
For example, if you're working with Spanish, select "Spanish (Latin)" for the Americas.
Change the output file format from .srt to .vtt in the drop-down menu.
Review and Complete Order
You'll see the cost for your captioning order. Review it, and when you're ready, proceed to check out.
Rev will send you emails as they complete each video, and when the entire project is finished.
You can download individual caption files as they become available (these will be in .vtt format). If you prefer to download them all at once when the project is complete, you can choose the output file format at that stage.
