Article summary

If you’d like to add a YouTube video as a Chapter to your training, just follow these 3 simple steps:

  1. Navigate to the YouTube video that you wish to embed
  2. Copy the URL
  3. Paste the URL into the “video path” of your Chapter. That’s it!

TLDR: Doesn't matter. We'll make it work… unless it's a playlist. 🙂

We will accept most of the various YouTube links you'll encounter. Below are the most common:

  1. Watch is the link referenced in the method above and is shown in your web browsers URL bar. This looks something like:
  2. Share is typically the one you will grab from the Youtube mobile app or find in a social media post. This looks something like this:
  3. Embed is a bit more buried within the Share options of Youtube, but will looks similar to this:
  4. Playlist (Not Supported) provides a continous auotplay of curated content defined by the content creator. This will look simliar to this:
    or https://www.youtube.com/playlist…
  5. Live is used for streaming real-time content. We recommend leveraging the "Live Event" Course Type, which you can read more about here.

Regardless of the Youtube link you have (with the exception of a Playlist), just paste it in the Chapters' Video Path and we'll transform it to work properly within the Training Center.

Videos hosted on YouTube are owned and controlled by their respective creators, and their availability and accessibility can change at any time. Here are some important points to keep in mind:

  1. Content Ownership: The YouTube video you embed is the intellectual property of the content creator. They have the right to control how their content is used, including the ability to remove or restrict access to their videos on YouTube.

  2. Privacy and Permissions: Make sure you have the necessary permissions to embed and display the video on your website. Rule of thumb, if the video is listed as public on Youtube, then you are ahering to Youtube's terms of service.

  3. Video Availability: Videos on YouTube can be made public, private, or unlisted by the uploader. If the video's privacy settings change, it may no longer be accessible in your VT System. Additionally, if the uploader deletes their video or their YouTube account, the embedded video will become unavailable.

  4. YouTube Policies: YouTube has its policies and guidelines that content creators must follow. Videos that violate these policies may be removed by YouTube, and this can affect the availability of the embedded videos.

  5. Responsibility: It is your responsibility to monitor and maintain the embedded videos in your VT System. If a video becomes unavailable due to changes made by the original uploader, you may need to update or remove the link from the Chapter accordingly.

In summary, embedding a YouTube video in your VT System is a convenient way to share content, but it comes with certain limitations and responsibilities. Always respect the rights and decisions of content creators, and be prepared for the possibility that the video may become unavailable if they change the video's privacy settings or remove it from YouTube.
