Overview
The AI Teaching Assistant is the foundation of every AI feature in your LightSpeed VT platform. Once configured, it defines how the AI communicates — shaping its voice, style, and behavioral priorities across all content generation and learner-facing tools.
Why it matters: Every AI tool in your system — Ghost Writer, AI Tutor, Test Question Generator, Image Gen, and more — draws from your AI Teaching Assistant configuration. Set it up once, and all AI-generated content stays aligned with your brand and training goals automatically.
What Gets Configured
There are two components to set up: the AI Persona and AI Instructions. Together, they define who the AI is and what it does.
AI Persona
Who the AI is.
The Persona shapes the assistant's style, personality, and voice. Think of it as the AI's character — it determines whether the assistant feels warm or formal, motivating or matter-of-fact, coach-like or textbook-precise. A well-defined Persona ensures that everything from course descriptions to tutor responses feels consistent with your brand and resonates with your learners.
AI Instructions
What the AI does.
Instructions establish the assistant's behavioral guidelines and priorities. Think of it as the AI's rulebook — what to emphasize, what to avoid, and what goals to serve. Instructions keep the assistant aligned with your business objectives and ensure its responses stay consistent across every interaction.

Once configured, your AI Teaching Assistant automatically applies to all LSVT AI tools, including:

- AI Image Gen — Course thumbnails and visual assets

How to Configure Your AI Teaching Assistant
Navigate to System Management → AI Settings (top navigation bar), then select the Preferences section.
You'll see a "Setup your AI Teaching Assistant" prompt with a Get Started button. If you've already configured it, an Update button will appear instead.
Three Configuration Options
Choose the approach that best fits your team:
Option 1 — Use the Default (No Action Required)
If you don't configure anything, your system uses LightSpeed VT's built-in general-purpose Persona and Instruction set. This default is designed to perform effectively across any industry and is ready to use out of the box.
Best for: Teams who want to get started immediately without customization.
Option 2 — Complete the Setup Questionnaire (Recommended)
Select Get Started (or Update) to launch a short guided questionnaire. The system asks approximately 10 questions about your brand, voice, and training goals — taking around 3–4 minutes to complete. Based on your answers, the platform auto-generates a tailored Persona and Instruction set. No prompt-writing or AI knowledge required.
Best for: Teams who want a customized setup without writing prompts manually.
To launch:
- Go to System Management → AI Settings
- Click the AI Settings tab in the top navigation
- Under Preferences, click Get Started (or Update if previously configured)
- Answer the 10 questions about your brand, audience, and training objectives
- Review the auto-generated Persona and Instructions
- Save to apply across all AI tools
Option 3 — Custom Setup (Advanced)
Bypass the questionnaire entirely and write your own Persona and Instructions from scratch. This gives you complete control over the exact language, tone, and behavioral rules the AI follows.
Best for: Teams with specific brand standards, existing AI prompt guidelines, or instructional design requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I update my AI Teaching Assistant after the initial setup?
Yes. Return to System Management → AI Settings → Preferences at any time and click Update to revise your Persona or Instructions.
Does changing the AI Teaching Assistant affect existing content?
The updated settings apply to new AI-generated content going forward. Previously generated content is not retroactively changed.
What if I complete the questionnaire but want to make manual edits afterward?
After the questionnaire generates your Persona and Instructions, you can edit either field directly before saving — or return later via the custom setup option.
Which AI tools are NOT affected by the AI Teaching Assistant?
AI SnapScribe (caption and summary generation) operates independently and is toggled separately under AI Settings → Preferences.
