Overview
The content role and access level mapping tool really comes in handy when you want to quickly add, remove or replace content roles or access levels to users in your VT system.
How to access the tool
You can access the tool by navigating to the Super User Dashboard, click Content Containers [301] under the Content [300] column, then click the Role & Access Mapping tab
How it works
Once you get to role & access mapping tool, you’ll see a drop down where you can choose between three options
- Map an access level to access level
- Map one or more content roles to an access level
- Map one or more content roles to a content role
In this article we’ll be going over the most used option, which is mapping a content role to a content role, but no matter which option you’ll use, the process is the same.
After you make a selection, you’ll need to pick the system and the location(s) that this change will apply to
You’ll need the content role id(s) for the mapping tool. A recommendation is to right click on the “content role” tab and open it in a new tab
Adding Role(s)
To add a role or roles, click the radio button next to the “Add” option and paste the content role id into the content role id field to the right, then choose the content role to map to in the drop down below. Essentially what you’re telling the system is to “Add” this content role id to all users that have the content role I choose from the drop down.
Removing Role(s)
When removing roles, the process is almost the exact same, except you’re going to choose the “Remove” radio button instead of the “Add”
Replacing Role(s)
To replace a content role, you’ll want to choose the “Add and Replace” radio button and follow the same process.
